Barcelona...

There is so much that can be said about this wonderful city. But all of that, you can find in the millions of tourist guides in thousands of languages all over the world. So we'll skip that part and focus on what really matters; it's great!

The aim of this website/portal/guide/diary/thing is to try and transfer our student experiences in Barcelona to others and make ourselves somewhat useful to the society in general. One thing we don't want to do, however, is to regurgitate the never-ending same-descriptions-written-in-different-words available everywhere. If you feel that is what we are doing, scream at us! Brighterplace.com wants to be something different and unique. And at the end of the day we want to make Barcelona an even brighter place than it already is for you.

Simultaneously, we want to build an online community of like-minded students living in Barcelona. We want YOU to add your favourite bars, restaurant and clubs to our site - just as long as it isn't a 'guiri' (foreigner in Spanish) hotspot in Puerto Olimpico! Recommend your housing agency or school or univeristy to other students if you feel it is worth it. Or if you feel you've been ripped off, the service was crap, your housing agency treated you badly, then you are more than welcome to say so online - as long as you keep good manners!. Good or bad, what we need are opinions and thoughts that will help others to form their own judgement.

Lead, don't follow. We are not sheep. Don't go where everyone goes or where all the "tourist guides" tell you to go - here we won't give 'preferential positioning' or higher visibility and more sympathetic comments to paying advertisers. To us, they are all the same - paying or non-paying (for the record - we are not making any money off this site yet - if we ever do, we pledge not to deteriorate your experience nor to mislead you!)

If your thing is going to the most expensive club in town where all the celebrities hang out then... you won't find it here! Nope. The best thing for you to do in this case is to leave the site. And never come back. Because we can't help you! We will help you, however, to find the cheapest ‘tapas’ and falafels. The cheapest beers and cubattas. Places with unique personalities. Places, which look like movie scenarios. Places that have interesting people with interesting personalities - wackos, alcoholics or simply the girl next door…They are what makes Barcelona as it is, and this is why we love it. Hopefully, so will you.
